My name is Peggy Lynn Marchett ( I never liked my first name) growing up I think I’ve re-named myself at least three times before the age of sixteen. I live in Tennessee which may in deed stand to reason why my first name always seem to morph into Peggy Jean (which I never care for either) by those that think they know me intimately. I am a wife, mother of two beautiful never boring children who are as radically different in every way from age, sex to appearances (one is blonde and blue-eyed, the other has brown hair and is hazel-eyed) could have something to do with them having different fathers though…the ex husband factor… what can I say…
I live on a beautiful little third generation organic farm with a flock of unruly chickens…an over weight pot belly pig named Baxter although he is really a she…long story…a darling miniature donkey named Milley Mae Moon Flower…thanks Mom…a hyper juvenile delinquent goat…Trophy ..that we rescued, weathered and bottle feed from an hour old…you would think he would be more grateful…but he’s not…a lazy but sweet dog named Geronamo…and a couple of barn cats that at the moment are without a barn…
I am the youngest of 6 children in my family…which is probably why I feel the need to partner on every project, idea and dealing I have in life
I am an identical twin….which is probably why I don’t partner well.
I am left-handed and tend to lean more to left brain thinking…
My husband Mark is 16 years older than I but he is very immature so we pretty much meet in the middle. And he is an Italian male…they do age so nicely.
I have made movies, recorded records on a major label, I have personally met two Presidents, a slew of celebrities, had dinner at the White House and a beer or two at Tootsies Orchid Lounge and a three-day shopping spree in the Big Apple. I have lived in Mexico, Hawaii and traveled to every state but Alaska…it a little cold for southern girls that far north…
My favorite place (I wished I could live) is Fredericksburg TX. I am such a sucker for the scenic hill country and I have yet to meet a Texan I didn’t like.
My best friend besides of course my husband (better safe then sorry) is my Twin sister Patsy…its a love..hate relationship based upon our mutual fascination with one another.
I am now in my current life and have been for more than a decade…a farmer…thats right a farmer…a female farmer to be exect. In an industry still dominated by chivalry its important to note time and time again…Yes, I have breast, yes, I am wearing heels and no you can’t pat my ass..and yes sir, I am a farmer…
There are people out there that say I have a bit of an overachiever type personality (clearly they have no reference as to what that type of person they are referring to)… in truth most everything in my life is held together by either duct-tape, lipstick or a cartoon character bandage.
I am artistic in nature…my farm is my master peice…work in progress. I am a procrastinator cursed by genetics… thanks mom…a control freak…I will mark that one up to my partnering issues…and a lover of open fields and a good swimming hole. My domain is my farmhouse kitchen and my tool shed. Nothing says sexy like a girl in a tool belt…weilding a good seasoned cast iron skillet.
I enjoy reading…did I mention I am also a little A.D.D. so a good book…or blog settles my mind and relaxes me. I love creating new recipes and cooking as long as my husband doesn’t assume I am charged with feeding him dinner every night of the year. I like to sew, design jewelry, write, working on my farmhouse, develop new ideas for the farm. I enjoy most of all working in gardens planting, harvesting and talking to my flowers, herbs and vegetables. I don’t enjoy weeding, cleaning up the mess made from weeding the garden, having to feed the animals on cold raining mornings or mopping my kitchen floor everyday from muddy farm boots. I am no domestic diva, I don’t enjoy house work to a fault.
I am a hourder of magazines, scraps of left-over building material and old barn wood.
I have a weakness for coconut cream pie, breakfast for dinner, Coca-Cola (as in the real thing) smoking it up cigarettes with the girls now and then. My children’s laughter, my husbands hands and my mother’s voice
My favorite things are: My family every each and one of them. My husband’s eyes…smoldering… my old muck boots, a good sharp wheel hoe, my J200 Gibson guitar, my red kitchen aide mixer, my flip video camera, spell check, a warm goose down comforter, my makeup bag and hair doobie..
Last but not least….I love my across the board, contradiction in terms, never standing still…laughing all the way…Hoe…hoe..hoe down the row sweet crazy life as a female farmer….
Now, what about you?
Thefemalefarmer-Peggy L. Marchetti

you’re a really good writer…and have a very interesting life…i think you look sexy in muck boots and cut off jeans…or for that matter anything else
i love you…keep blogging

Wow, you are so many things I never imagined. This is Kim S. from Waverly. You may not remember me but I remember hanging out with you back in the day. Congratulations on what sounds like a fabulous life! I would love to hear from you sometime.
Hi Kim, thanks for checking out the blog site…come back often…I need lots of motivation…:)
Hi, Peggy…I have been thinking of you and when I found this website I just had to say hello. You sound like you are very happy and you have a wonderful husband and children..I am so very proud of your achievements..
I am a grandmother now of four beautiful children..and still a mother of three..I have been married for 15 years this new year coming..to a wonderful gorgeous man myself…I live here in Lebanon..we have a small home with a beautiful view of the lake..I have been blessed to type medical records from home and find it was a gift from God..as he has provided me all my needs through this one thing that I love so much.
I love organic foods..and we would like to learn how to grow them ourselves..My husband, Randy, and I talk about growing a garden this new year, but we are in need of some learning tools to be successful in it..I would love to come to your teaching sessions that you have…..One day we plan to sell this house and buy some farm land…and hope to do it soon, I grew up on a farm, and I think the older I get the more important it is to go back to my heritage…and my grandchildren need a place to go to get away from the world as they know it in this day and time to relax and see the beauty that the God has blessed us all with in the Country..
I hope to hear from you soon..Merry Christmas to you and your family..and have a very Happy New Year…and many blessings to you…..
Des, Good to hear from you…I have often wondered what became of ya…Gloria said you came by the ranch a few years ago. Sounds like your life turned out great. We need to catch up one day…bring the kids to the farm, they would love it. I am glad you made contact…Peggy
Peggy, I definitely would love to come and see your farm and bring the grandbabies with me…They would love the animals…
I am so happy I heard from you…I have had you on my mind for a long time and cannot wait to do some catching up..its definitely been a wonderful journey…We just bought a pontoon boat to take out here on Old Hickory when it gets warmer, maybe you and your family would like to come and join us one beautiful summer day.
I am needing some help on growing things also, and I want to try some of those farm fresh eggs and vegetables…I bet you have terrific recipes…
Cannot wait to see you again real soon..It sounds like you had a wonderful trip to Fort Worth, Randy and I will have to try that bar out one day, looks like a lot of fun..we are always looking for new places to go..
Talk to you real soon

Hi Peggy, So you’re A.D.D. My kids are too and not sure if I am….always had trouble sitting…..remember when we were kids? So being laid up right now with my boot and crutches is ‘killing’ me. And I do like home cleaning…what can I say? Still trying to talk Kenny into stopping by to see the farm on his way to Ft Hood. Any chance of that? He leaves here Wednesday from Greenfield. I think I mapped it and you’re 1,1050 miles. A short ‘hike’. Good bio tho. Would love to have you at least talk to him if he can’t stop by. I’ll try again around 8P (EST) not sure if you’re on the same time? Did call and talk to Mark a few months ago – was great to hear his voice. Kati has a face book page and believe she has pics of Sara onj it and Ken has a page too. Love ya’ll Cindi (Cahill) Curtis 413-325-4450
Peggy, I so enjoyed reading your blog about your farm animals and working the garden. I was raised in east Kentucky and spend a huge amount of my childhood on my grandparents farm. Your well written blog brought home many wonderful memories of close family times. Thanks for sharing. Bye the way I worked with Jasy and Matt when they met. awesome couple.
Hi Steve, thank you for your kind words…
Peggy ,i I really enjoyed your blog i saw you, your sis and mom on your moms 70th bday in pa in 2005 . I was a former city girl from WV who married the country farmer we now have 3 horses 3 dogs and chickens. I would love to plant my first garden we now live in nw Alabama and iam learning as i go. I will keep reading for more tips take care!
LOL, I love you Peggy!!
I guess You Hated the name Peg-Eye.Hahaha.
Keep up the good work girl!!!
Hey Peggy,
I just love reading your blog. You are very entertaining to say the least! I was there with my friends the day you received your “new” miniture donkey. How has he adjusted? Has the original mini donkey realized she “IS ” a donkey and NOT a goat? That was a funny site watching those two (actually 3…including the goat).
Seeing how the farm has changed over the passed years does my heart good!
Hope all is well in “Farmville” and I can’t wait till the dinners in the garden start!
Thanks for such a great place to come!!
Hi Barb, Millie our little mini donkey does think she is a goat…or better yet..on of are kids…She is cute as can be. The Jack we got with Jay and Dana is fitting in with the rest of the bunch. We are planting like crazy around here right now trying to catch up from such a cold late winter. Hope your doing well, see ya soon. Peggy
